Andrew is an advocate of Open Education. This perspective comes from many years working in resource scarce environments within developing countries. What he has seen is that despite a dearth of resources and capacity there are many dedicated, creative and innovative educators working hard to create learning environments that resonate with their learners. In reality, there are many quality resources, and lots of expertise available. What is needed are opportunities to share, collaborate, and build capacity leveraging the expertise of local personnel who understand a specific context and the challenges. To create new learning environments that leverage today’s digital technologies requires coordination with these local educators.

Andrew has worked with UNESCO, World Bank, the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, and recently with Momentum Metropolitan Foundation in South Africa. His interactions with local educators, various Ministry of Education personnel and numerous higher education staff have shaped his belief that the way forward is grounded in building networks and supporting local talent.

Andrew’s function has varied in the past ranging from education technology policy writing, curriculum developer, instructional designer, course and digital materials developer, Professional development trainer and education researcher. He has developed and facilitated various blended learning online courses.

Andrew Moore is the Director of Skyreach Consulting PTY LTD, is a certified Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (drone) pilot, and has a M.Ed in Computer Assisted Education from the University of Pretoria
